These intricately threaded earrings are made out of Japanese Mizuhiki paper cord tied in an Awaji-Musubi or Abalone Knot with a shell flower detail. Traditionally signifying a "wish to stay together forever" due to the difficulty in trying to untie this knot. Elegant and simple for everyday use or special occasions.
Mizuhiki is a type of paper cord which is made by twisting rice paper and then covering traditionally kimono threads but these days it is covered in metallized films, dyestuffs, PVC, material or other finishings.
These earrings have an approximate 5.5cm drop by 2cm wide.
